Data protection

We are aware that our clients pay particular attention to the data that you provide us with and our plans for the use of such data. We place great value on ensuring that we only collect personal data that you make available to us and that we only make use of this data after we have informed you how we use it and have given you the opportunity to prohibit its use (EU distance selling directive).

Why we record client data:

The direct recording of client data also enables us to ensure that products are developed that meet the needs of our clients. We place great value in knowing who our clients are, the type of product they use and their expectations with regard to the product. Market research projects, client feedback and registrations enable us to learn what makes our products attractive and what does not. In some cases, we have a legal obligation to collect certain data. This is the case for example, if you download files, patches or repair programs from our websites or FTP sites. We also require user data in order to keep our data records up to date and in order for use to identify you correctly should you wish to register a product online or request technical support, for example.

It is hereby always our aim to only collect data that we require for the fulfilling of the purposes for which we collect the data. For example, we shall only ask you for your credit card information if you purchase a product or service from us. Should we ask you to provide us with data, we always inform you what we shall be using the data for in advance or when collecting the data. You always have the entitlement to decide whether to provide us with the data or not. We also inform you should we merely want to use the data for marketing and research purposes. Personal information and information on all of the business transactions you have conducted will be stored should you request information, require client services or download information from our systems.

Please note that we have to collect certain data in some cases, such as during registration and the purchasing of products, as we shall otherwise be unable to correctly register the product concerned and provide you with the respective technical support. It is possible that you may be unable to register products or purchase them from us without the necessary data. We also have a legal duty to forwarding certain data in special cases (e.g. the whereabouts of clients that download products with a high degree of encryption).

Log files:

We use the information from our server log files to administer our products and track application paths (that remain anonymous). This serves as the basis for the generation of statistics concerning the use of our website or a product. The information in these files comprises the IP address of our user, the websites that you use to access our solutions and information concerning the used browser.

Client lists and third party co-marketing activities:

From time to time, we conclude co-marketing agreements with third parties that offer similar products and services. If you register with us as a client, it is possible that you will also receive information on innovations and special offers from these third parties. In the event of your name and contact data being included in a list that could be made accessible to third parties, we inform you of this and provide you with the opportunity to have your name designated "private" in our database. Names that are designated "private" are not used for marketing and email campaigns and they are also not forwarded to third parties.

Please send us an email should you wish to be deleted from our clients list. The deletion of your data normally is effective after a period of between four to six workdays. Please note that as a deregistered user of one of our products, you will not receive any emails or other information in relation to technical support for your product, such as notification of patches and repair programs being available.

Updating or amending your data:

Please send us an email should you notice that your data is incorrect. We normally require between four to six workdays to amend or update your data.

Approval of this declaration:

Please do not use our services or product lines any further should you not accept this data protection declaration. We reserve the right to adapt this declaration from time to time and to publishing the amended version on our website.

German Federal Data Protection Act:

All data made available to our company is saved and processed for administrative purposes in accordance with the provisions of the German Federal Data Protection Act. Supplier data (name and address, tel. number and fax number) is forwarded to interested parties in connection with the sending of the offer. Data is not forwarded to third parties as long as this is not expressly notified.
